The Book Is Published!

Hello to you all!

This is a short post to let you know about my new book. I decided to write down my memories and stories from all our travels so far, well up to arriving at the Panama Canal anyway. The first half of the book is the story of the 8 year period of how we went from knowing nothing about sailing to eventually buying Azimuth and setting off. The second part of the book is about our travels that are recorded in the blog on this website.

I hope some of you might be interested in reading the full story! If you are, I would very much appreciate if you could leave us a review on Amazon (5 star of course!), as this will help it get some traction on the platform. The book is available as an eBook (for your kindle or other reader), or you can buy it as a paperback if you prefer.

  1. Bought and Loved – a thousand stars!!!!

I was born with a muscle weakness which meant I am not strong enough to lift a pint of milk and I use an electric wheelchair full time. However, with a heap of drive and determination (passed down by my mum), I have been fortunate enough to work, live and holiday in many parts of the world and have always thought how lucky I have been to do so. Well that was until I read Dominic’s book ‘Planet Earth’. I have always had a thing about sailing and other than the odd cruise and a one time trip on a wheelchair accessible narrow boat, it has. and can only ever be a dream to be able to sail.

This book took me on an extraordinary journey of discovery, all the way through, I felt like I was part of the crew. The purchases, the technical knowledge, the stamina when things didn’t work, the decisions, the heartache, the family, the compromise, the antics, the laughter, the loss, and of course the money. And when you have got your head around all that, then brace yourself for the oceans, the winds, the waves, the anchorages, the caves, the beaches, the communities, the stories, the swimming, the singing, the birds, the seals, the dolphins, the turtles, the history, the card games, the food, the fireworks, and of course the glory that is Azimuth.

Planet Earth is an easy read and flows beautifully. The story isn’t about a man’s passion to sail around the world. It’s about a couples journey that changed their lives. An idea that began with a dream and through pain, grit and an abundance of determination they, despite the obvious concerns, fell in love with our planets oceans and the adventures that sailing is giving them. Never mind ‘Land Ahoy’, lets stick with ‘Aye, Aye Captain’. Keep living the dream both of you. I look forward to part two very much.

    Natasha
